For NY Times: Dayshalee Salamán makes the Olympics

For one of my first assignments during the lockdown last year I met Dayshalee Salamán, aka Dinamita, who was recovering from a serious knee injury.

The halt of life during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic gave Dayshalee the chance to recover in time for the Tokyo Games this year, getting to represent Puerto Rico in the Olympics – a first for the women's basketball team.

Dayshalee did physical therapy at her grandmother's home in Carolina, P.R., and posed for a portrait in a basketball court nearby.
